Petition For Full Chiropractic Coverage Under Medicare
Medicare currently only pays for spinal manipulation. It only covers chiropractic treatment of acute conditions and not for chronic conditions. Medicare coverage for chiropractic care does not pay for examinations, x-rays, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, exercise therapy, braces, supports, or any other services provided by a doctor of chiropractic. Medicare pays for spinal adjustments only. Chiropractors are very well trained in the treatment of ankle pain, knee pain, hip pain, wrist pain, elbow pain, and shoulder pain. Unlike normal health insurance plans, Medicare does not pay for chiropractic treatment of any joint condition other than for the joints of the spine and pelvis.
Our nation's seniors are being unjustly denied full Medicare covered services when those services are performed by a doctor of chiropractic. Studies have shown that these essential services, provided by a doctor of chiropractic, can help the aging population live happier, healthier lives. The federal government currently relies on antiquated laws that clearly discriminate against Medicare chiropractic patients. Dr. Greg L. Crawford of Foothills Chiropractic urges you to sign a petition asking congress to pass legislation that allows for full reimbursement and full access to all services provided by doctors of chiropractic.
